The brass nuts that are exposed on the inside of laps in my seacamper had turned green, thats supposed to be from salt water, but this boat had never been near the sea.My brother told me that storing batteries inside a covered hull can lead to this.
Any way I found a great way to clean them, there is a new product out called BAM made by Easy off, it is a grime and lime remover. just spray it on, it comes out in a foam, let it sit for a while 15-20 min and hose it off --- no more green!!!! Test your own situation.

This weekend I used Bam on an old coroded ships bell, sprayed it on and waited about 3 min and rinsed off with cold water - what a difference! it looked like it just came out of the chrome shop. I have used same method on several other pieces with amazing results. Even pieces with raised pits on chrome, it dissolved the raised pits completely, it couldn't do anything about hole in chrome surface but vastly improved look and feel of chrome surface. I sprayed down an old speedo and it came out like new with almost no elbow grease.
This is also a very non toxix chemical I handle it just like simple green.
