Help! Deck varnish

I have just completed the first coat of Old Salem Sealer in the Mahogany decks on my little sports runabout.

Happy with things so far but did notice that sealer did collect in the bevels of the deck boards.

I roll and tip and maybe I'm putting it on too heavy.

Anyone have any suggestions or technique for applying varnish on beveled decks?

Thanks!

Gaff,

I think you are putting too much on if the bevels are filling up. Try thinning out the varnish and applying less.
I generally cut my varnish by two parts varnish to one part thinner for the first couple coats on bare wood, then I used a varnish cut about 3 or 4 to one part thinner for the rest of the coats. I do not use varnish with out cutting it as I fined it does not flow well and does always level out properly if it dries fast.

Good Luck,

Phill
