Transom to strake screw size and length

Hi All
As you may have learned from previous posts I am replacing my transom on my 65 Offshore. Since the transom was pretty much dismanteled before I bought the boat, can someone tell me what size screws to use that connect the transom to the strakes? I have found #10's, 1-1/2" connecting the vertical to horizontal pieces together. What is the screw size that goes through the strakes and into the transom?
What do you all recommend for bedding compound between the strakes and the transom? 3M5200 or something less aggressive adhesive wise like Boat Life Calk?
