new to site. new to wooden boats. new to ..... BUT now that i own a thompson - and love it! i have my first question (other than my sanity). after removing the floor (garboards?), i discovered a kerf at the bottom of the frames (ribs?) - the ones that are left either the kerf is there to relieve the pressure on the frame, or it is some sort of weep hole to allow passage of water. OR it is neither of those and the reason i'm here. when i install the new frames, what is the correct size to make these? they look to be about an 1/8th of an inch deep and a 1/4 inch wide. if anyone knows, please respond. thanks. oh, by the way, the boat is a 15 foot 1957 sea coaster (71068CC). it was made in peshtigo and has the dual cockpits.
