Probably some restoration FAQ's

Post by berniematic »

Hello -

I'm new here with a couple questions. Trying to restore a '59 Cruisers 19' Vacationer.

What's the best stuff for sealing/bedding the keel to the hull? I used Dockyard bedding for the keelson.

What's the best stuff for filling the waterside screw holes in the plywood? I've already used Durhams water putty on one half of the bottom - some years ago before I knew to ask a forum. There is paint on the bottom.

As I remember, the boat was a pale yellow when new. How do I get a fairly authentic color paint?

Thank you very much. I can foresee more such questions as I proceed.

see AJR's responce in the previous post " keelson repair" ... Boat Life poyysulfide (sp?) is also great stuff
As for screw head holes in the underside and under paint I like the marine grade two part polyester filler ( like Bondo), it's also good for surface imperfections under paint.
