As we all know, bottom paint can be very very pricey, I am wondering if any of you know if there is a substitute for bottom paint. my thompson rests on a boat hoist 9 out of 10 times, therefore it is out of the water. Since this is the case, can I just paint the bottom with regular hull paint, or will I still need the bottom paint?

pcbres12,
If the boat is not moored in the water there is not much need for bottom paint. Regular hull paint is fine.
Bottom paint is needed when a boat sets in the water all the time when marine growth has a chance to bond to the surface.
Good Luck,
