Hi!

Just got a 19' Thompson, advertised as a 1958. Bottom is rough and will need to be replaced along with keel and a lot of ribs. Am a virgin to the wood boat business although I used to help my dad sand and paint his Thompson back in the early 60's. Really don't know anything about restoration, but need to learn. Don't want to screw things up by just jumping in and taking things apart, etc. Can anyone recommend a basic level 101 book on restoration that can take me by the hand?

BTW, located in west central Ohio against the Indiana border if anyone's around this area.

Read the past postings on this forum. There is tons of great information here.

www.woodenboat.com has a good discussion forum.

The two books by Don Danenberg on "Runabout Restoration" are worth reading.
