I have a 1963 SuperThomboy. I bought it last spring and at the beginning of the summer it leaked some but after a few times it leaked very little throughout the summer (1-2 gallons after a 4-6 hour boat ride). Should I pursue having work done to stop the leaking or am I fine with draining the boat after using it? I have seen it discussed from being no problem to have some leaking to recommendations that all leaking be stopped in a lapstreak. The boat is stored on a trailer.

Boats are NOT supposed to leak. Fix the problem. It can be as simple as tightening all the screws attaching planking to ribs and the bolts/nuts fastening planking to each other. A common area of leaking is the outer keel. The caulking under it dries out and no longer functions properly. An issue of the "Thompson Dockside" was devoted to repairing this problem area.

By the way, it's lapstrake not lapstreak.
