use of cedar wood

i have a 56 sea coaster that needs front outer stem replaced. thinking of using cedar wood and covering it with epoxy fiberglass. any ideas about doing this. thanks
Keep away from fiberglass at all costs.
Don't use cedar for the stem. It's too soft. Use all heartwood white oak. There was a reason this was used in the original constuction.
