Offshore 20 off-center outboard mounting position

Post by jlwinskill »

My Offshore 20's primary outboard is mounted off-center to accomodate the kicker motor. This looks like it comes from the factory this way as there is no evidence of other holes ever being there. What I'm wondering is if I remount it to the center of the transom if it will improve the steering. It currently feels like it wants to catch the other side of the boat when you turn which makes it feel pretty unsteady. Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks!

The factory did not install outboard motors. That was done at a dealership or by the owner.

I can't imagine it would preform well with the motor mounted off center.

It's no problem to move it. Plug the old holes and drill new ones. It's done all the time.
