Dan,

Wow, your group sure does some nice work, and quickly too. A couple follow up questions about the seams, if I might. When you say you reef them out do you first loosen any of the fasteners, or do you leave them alone and get the paint out/off as best you can? If you leave the seams tightened up, then I assume you are laying a thin bead of 5200 along the seam and perhaps smoothing it/making it concave, getting it to make good contact with both strakes (I'd call it a fillet if I was building one of my plywood kayaks -- not sure if that translates to this sector of the wooden boat world). Do I have your procedure down correctly? I think I get the transom lap thing -- I was worried about those because they had a bunch of extra goop on them, but I hadn't actually gotten the paint off the very aft ends of the strakes yet to get a look at how they are fastened. Anyway, I am hoping to get back at my boat in the next couple days. Thanks.
