Interlux wood filler stain
I used Interlux brown mahogany on my transom and it sure looks red to me. Is there any way of getting away from the red and getting something like the deck of Ernie Cottrell's boat in the Dockside Boats pictures. Thanks for any help.

Jall,
All Mohagony stains have red in then some more the others. The reason being is that mohagay wood is red in color. If you look at Chris Crafts mohagony stain it has more red then most others.
Once you apply several coats of a good marine natural varnish the color will start to soften some what. Pick a good grade of varnsh that has a golden hue when selecting you varnish.
Looking at the picture you mentioned it almost looks like there is no stain at all on the deck. I might be wrong, but that is what it looks like to me.
