1961 Cruisers Inc 302M

Post by Dave »

Hi.

I'm looking for a 1961 Cruisers Inc 302m ( the 'm' model referred to mahogony veneer plywood versus the fir marine plywood).

This boat was considered 18 ft, but was actually 17' 11"....just shy of 18ft long.

I grew up with one and would die to find one like it. This is an outboard.

I live in Green Bay Wisconsin.
I appreciate any leads.

Thanks
Dave.

Welcome aboard!

Look thru the classified ads here on this site. Watch ebay auctions (there is a Cruisers, Inc on ebay right now). Look at craigslist.com. Check out ladyben.com. Look at the 50+ chapter websites of the Antique & Classic Boat Society www.acbs.org.

In 1961 model 302 was the 17 1/2 foot Commander with 17'-10 centerline length. I do not see anything about "M" in the two versions of the 1961 brochure.

I do see "M versions in the 1962 model year brochures. This had vinyl covered deck with a band of stained and varnished wood on the outer curved edges, maybe 6 inches wide. And the boat length grew to 17'-11" in 1962.

Patrick DeGaynor of Menominee, MI had a 202M Seafarer 16'-2". I wonder what his widow did with it?

Thanks Lancerboy for the information.

The boat we had as a kid was definitely a 1961 hull.

I got a photo copy of this boat from a '61 brochure which shows what your '62 brochure shows.

Dave.

I looked at the 1961 brochures once again. There is NO mention of "M" on any of the models. But yes, all the models had the vinyl covering on the deck with stained and varnished outer edges, just like the "M" versions in 1962.
