I am finished with the restoration of the 1961 Thompson Bros. (Peshtigo) 17 ft. Sea Lancer model 950. I did sea trials on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings this week. All works well and she does not leak a drop!
I noticed that you didn't use any copper anti-fowling paint on the bottom of your boat. Did you not do this because of the year or just preference? My Dad grew up with thompson boats and they always had the copper paint on the bottom.
The boat looks awesome. We are actually thinking of not using the copper anti fowling paint now that we've seen yours. Just not sure if we should or not.
The copper bronze is typically used for boats that sit in the water all season. No need for it on boats that are trailered and only in the water a few days at a time or for an afternoon.
In 1961 it was a $25.00 option on all models, indicating it was not standard.
