My Thompson
I just bought a 1956 16' Thompson which i belive is a Sea Lancer. i have already painted the bottom and am working on the top side now, but i have discovered that most if not all the ribs from the transome up to the cockpit are rotted, mainly where the sink under the middle where a board is covering them. What should i do about this??? please help
Welcome aboard!
The Sea Lancer was first introduced for the 1957 model year. She was 16'-7" centerline length. The Sea Coaster was about 15'-5" centerline length at that time.
Is this a Peshtigo or Cortland built boat? What is the hull ID stamped into the wood of the transom? What is the serial number?
I am not sure what you mean about "the sink under the middle"?
Replace the rotten wood with good quality new wood.

The ribs in the bilge, near the keelson? The keelson is the longitundinal wooden member that runs the length of the boat down the middle.
The FIRSt thing to do is asses the condition of the structural elements of the boat and repair and replace as nessecary. Then and only then should you go onto the finishing process.
