Hi all, new here. A friend gave me this old Thompson boat and I'm wondering how old it is and how to go about covering the hull. The boat looks to be very sound. If anyone has any experience covering a hull like this I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks, Carl

Hi Carl and welcome aboard,
She looks like a model 240 Take-Along. To determine the year, look for a hull ID stamped into the wood of the transom, inside the boat.
What is the centerline length of the boat?
She is missing the three bench seats, obviously.
The covering should be canvas. I recommended getting her re-canvased. A competant canoe restorer or builder in your area can probably accomplish this for you. Listings can be found at www.wcha.org
I grew up with one of these boat and my parents still have it. I also had one of my own a few years ago which I restored and then sold.
