hey kids
recently purchased a thompson from ebay and reaching out for some info on what this boat is. 17 feet long, 6.5 feet wide. Serial plate reads: Thompson Boat Co. # 56806. made in Cortland, N.Y. it appears to be a runabout style with closed bow, split window. i have some pics but don't know how to attach them to this forum because i'm a pc dummy. can't wait to dig into the new project.... as a bonus the spousel unit loves to sand, who'da thunk it!
many thanks,

I noted this Richmond, VA boat on the ebay auction. I was in that area last week!
It is made by Thompson Boat Company of New York, Inc. at Cortland, NY. The serial/hull number probably indicates she is a 1960 model year boat.
If I recall she needs to be painted and the varnished work is in sad shape. NUMBER ONE thing to do is look for any structural issues such as rotten ribs and keel in the bilge area.
Ask lots of questions here and review the old posts as there is tons of great advice already printed here.
