Sea Coaster versus Sea Mate

Post by Bellbuoys »

I have been looking around at Sea Coasters, and came across an ad for a 1960 16' Sea Mate. This is a new one for me. The seller does not know how to send a photo from his phone, but verbal description sounds very much like the Sea Coaster.
Can someone explain the difference to me? Is it an interior configuration, or....?
Many thanks.

Sea Coaster and Sea Mate are two completely different models. Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. did NOT have the Sea Mate model until 1963. There was no such thing as Sea Mate prior to 1963. In 1963 the Sea Mate was 14'-7" centerline length and the Sea Coaster was 16'-6" centerline length. For the 1964 model year there was a complete redesign of the entire product line. The Sea Mate became 14'-10" centerline length and the Sea Coaster became 16'-7" centerline length.

Remember that the old brochures of Thompson Boat et.al. have been scanned and placed onto CD-ROM or flash drive. It can be purchased at www.wcha.org and it is a priceless resource of information.

Thanks Andreas. Seems I should look into the brochure offering.
