Checked out my aluminum framed windows on my 65 Offshore, Peshtigo WI built boat. As mentioned above, I have one windshield that is cracked. Mine has a rubber gasket on the 'outside' of the windshield that holds the glass into the aluminum frame. It was easy to remove and the glass lifted right out, easy peasy. The framed seemed to be crimped at the corners, where you can't see it from the exterior, to hold it together.

Thought this might be of interest to this discussion.
