Steering Mount

Post by gaff »

Trying to adjust the steering mount for a little better angle.

Because the dash is being replaced, I used the old one to mock up a an option.

It places the wheel back some and tilts the top of the wheel forward. The mounting block would strengthen the dash where it was cut out.

Any thought or comments are welcome. Not sure I am doing it yet. Kicking things around.

Thanks

Great looking boat and great workmanship!
I don't see a problem with what you are talking about doing.
Just as long as steering cables wind on the drum properly all should be fine.
What are you using for a power plant?
Karl.

Thanks Karl.

I have a 1957 Evinrude 18 hp Fastwin with remote shift & throttle.

It is in great shape but has not run in a while. Still concentrating on the boat. Hope to have it done by Spring.

Thanks again.

I agree with Karl, I can't see it being any problem. Just be careful of the steering cables to make sure they will still function properly.
