I am looking to paint the bottom of my thompson a new color. The old color is a Interlux black bottom paint. I want to paint it a new color, but the new one will not be bottom paint, just regular hull paint. If I want to so this, can I paint over the old black with the new color(new color is lauderd...

If the boat is not moored in the water there is not much need for bottom paint. Regular hull paint is fine.
Bottom paint is needed when a boat sets in the water all the time when marine growth has a chance to bond to the surface.

As we all know, bottom paint can be very very pricey, I am wondering if any of you know if there is a substitute for bottom paint. my thompson rests on a boat hoist 9 out of 10 times, therefore it is out of the water. The Thompson I have has a problem with the tarp. Where I normally keep it, I just use bungee cords to secure the tarp on it, b/c the boat is on a life. But where I am now, the boat won't be on a lift, just in the water. Anyone have any good ideas on a system I can make to secure the tarp? Such as sn...

I have a 1956 Thompson Sea Lancer (16') with a 1956 Evinrude Lark 35 hp, i don't know what the trailer weight is, but it is about 15' long. How much does my boat and engine weigh, because we need to tow it to our cottage and we plan to tow the boat with a 2007 Honda 4 cylinder, can it tow it???

I am almost done restoring my 16 foot thompson, there is 1 problem though. When we took the seats out the boat "Fattend" up and now i am ready to put the seats back in and now the seats won't fit anymore. How hard should i push to get the boat "skinny" again to make the seats fix...

I just bought a 1956 16' Thompson which i belive is a Sea Lancer. i have already painted the bottom and am working on the top side now, but i have discovered that most if not all the ribs from the transome up to the cockpit are rotted, mainly where the sink under the middle where a board is covering...
