hey all, hows everyone? looking for info on solid mahogany, phillippine is what thompson brothers use, i am told that honduras and african mahogany are better and true mahogany, am i right? why didn't thompson brothers use african and or honduras?

yes, that may be, so you draw the water up the tube, the leather cone seals the tube, there is a side opening 6in from the top where the water will drain overboard.

have not been able to touch base with people that sell the masonite, maybe i will use some 1x3 or 1x4 cedar/fir deck boards instead, what would be a more durable wood to use? also need to find some glass for windshield on the east coast, boston area. thanks much 1962 19ft thompson offshore 1962 20ft...

thanks again Andreas, i did find a source of masonite made by duracote, the product is masonite[africa]limited, i emailed the company, they are based in south africa, they have a brown board with a green face, i will buy some and let you know how this product looks.

thanks andreas, i have winterized with antifreeze before on a newer outboard, just want to make sure there are no pockets of water trapped in the cooling system, can i run this older johnson with a garden hose and earmuffs at the gearcase instead of using a barrell full of water?
