Thanks for all the responses.
The information was very helpful and in fact we were abler to get everything set up and had her first launch. Everything worked great.
It is a cool little boat!
Goes into the Lake Hartwell Antique Boat Show in a couple of weeks!
Thanks again

Motor Controls for 18 hp 1957 Evinrude Fastwin
I am setting up the 18 hp Evinrude on my little Sports Runabout. I hooked the remote motor controls up. Throttle seems to work smooth but the shifting not so much. Does the motor need to be running to move through the gears? Do I need to do anything with the controls on the tiller before using the r...

Re: 49 Sports Runabout Photo Album
Thanks Andreas
It required a lot more work than I thought it was going to when I got it.
Amazing what varnish and paint can hold together.
You and the rest of the folks here have extremely helpful over this very long process.
Thanks again

49 Sports Runabout Photo Album
Cleaned up a mess photos of the Sports Runabout restoration for an album. https://www.flickr.com/photos/62318403@N08/albums Took me a lot longer to finish than I anticipated but I think it was well worth it. Planning on first launch next month. Will add to album when it finally goes in. The help I r...

Cleat placement
What is the rule of thumb for cleat placement? The boat is small, 12' long.

Re: Getting there
Thanks Joe! I'm very pleased with the was she has turned outdo far. The boat is a 49 but the motor is a 57 18hp Evinrude. Have been looking for the proper vintage but it runs real strong. I am going to join the local antique boat groups. I will check out the AOMCI. We have a nice wooden boat show he...

Getting there
Almost done!
Here is a photo:

Paint and varnish done decals on.
Figures the last coat and I some dust in the final coat of varnish. Any recommendations to smooth it out without another coat?
Thanks
Steve

Help! Deck varnish
I have just completed the first coat of Old Salem Sealer in the Mahogany decks on my little sports runabout. Happy with things so far but did notice that sealer did collect in the bevels of the deck boards. I roll and tip and maybe I'm putting it on too heavy. Anyone have any suggestions or techniqu...

Windshield barckets
I have been looking hard for some windshield brackets for my little 12 footer but they are way too expensive or way to large for this boat. I wanted a windshield to add some to the looks of the boat but also something just big enough to deflect the wind a little. After not finding what I was looking...

Finally! New Deck
It has been a while since I had a chance to work on my boat. I was able to get the mahogany decks on today. https://app.photorocket.com/galleries/ebef6748-6c86-4437-bfa1-762ee9212c83/medias/146b56ee-68fe-49bc-b5b2-f4f7ee16bf48 Still have to add coaming & varnish. Starting to look like something....

Good morning I am starting to install the insides of the boat and getting everything set up before I install the deck. Rear seat and dash are fitted. https://app.photorocket.com/galleries/ebef6748-6c86-4437-bfa1-762ee9212c83/medias/08c68688-9916-449d-930d-6632b08fba04 This is a tiny boat and I am no...

Re: Paint! Finally
Thanks for the replies.
Definitely taking longer than I thought it would.
It will be worth it in the end.
Getting the paint on it makes it look like something.
Can not wait to get going on the decks.
Thanks again.
