repairs started

Maybe you, and others can give out a title or two from the many books about repairing wooden boats. I'm mainly interested in knowing the "How-to" bits for removing and replacing things like ribs, keels, decking, ... If this is already posted permanently on the website, please tell me where...

I see both screws and nails holding things together here, any special considerations when trying to remove the nails? let me ask this question here. (sorry if it seems elementary)
Can any (or some) outboards that have tiller controls be modified to work with cable controls?
I have a '53 Sea Coaster without an engine, so I've been looking around and this question occurred to me.
