I'm looking for 4" #12 wood screws to re-fasten the transom to the keelson on a 1967 Sea Coaster (all the old fasteners were broken at the shank). Jamestown Distributors doesn't sell any longer than 3", and has no suggestions about where to find longer screws. Anyone have any ideas? David.

I have a 1967 Sea Coaster that I'm just starting to restore. It appears to have paper-covered plywood planking.

What exactly is MDO plywood, and why do I want to avoid breaking through the paper covering? Do I need to fill every patch where the paper has been breached?
