using filler stain
The old time chriscraft restorers use burlap bags (gunny sacks) and rub accross the grain to prevent lifting the filler from the wood grain. I still have a few pieces of burlap and have found that to be the best material to prevent lifting and getting a good fill. Just my 2 cents. Mike

I'm renovating a 1959 Sea Lancer and want to know what the potential leak sources are on that boat. I assume one of the biggies is along the keel where the bottom pieces meet. I put the original floor pieces in my Sea Lancer tonight to see how they fit. All went well. I noticed a shaded area along each side that looked like a piece of moulding of some kind goes there. stain colors for 1959 Sea Lancer
I found that the gunnell (gunwhale) strake and gunnell cap on my boat were both stained dark walnut brown. The rest of the mahogany is the standard red/mahogany. Also, the rub rail was painted white and I noticed on some of the boats they are stained and varnished. I'm not totally constipated about ...
