Changing Trailer tire size
I have a Tee Née trailer holding a 1960 Seacoaster... The motor is about 250 lbs so I suspect that the whole works is about 1100 lbs. The tires I have been using are 5.70 - 8 , 4 hole rim... Load Range C (910lbs/tire) The hubs are 1" with 1 1/4 seal. I am considering whether I can bump the tire...

Treating Chrome for storage
I decided to leave my Seacoaster stored this summer. I stopped by to make sure it was OK a few days ago, and I starting wondering whether the chrome was starting to get haze on it. I might have been imagining it, as the light was not all that good.... and there might have even been a little water sp...

I used several coats of CPES on the bottom of my '60 Seacoaster... then a light one 24 hrs before applying an epoxy barrier coat... also called moisture diffusion barrier primer, or high build epoxy paint. This was from Smith and Co. I got four quarts.... two quarts were the hardener and one quart g...

You might want to wait until after your plywood is completely in position before using CPES... Even though CPES is still flexible after it cures, it is epoxy. It seems to me that if you coat it with CPES and wet/steam the plywood and then don't bend it that day, or need to retink your process a few ...

Boat Inspection in Minn
I am interested in hearing about your experience in Minnesota (like at Minnetonka) or maybe even Wisc, with respect to boat ramp inspectors. I am a slo-mo this year getting out in my Seacoaster, and was going to go recently to Lake Minnetonka. But, several days ago, I read that the inspections for Z...

Separation between Transom and knees
I have a condition that I want to address when I get my Seacoaster out of storage in a few weeks. I wonder if any of you have seen this on your boat. Over the past several years there is a widening gap between the Transom and the knees that support the transom and the sides. This is more on one side...

Steve.. I used several heavy coats of CPES four days apart... then one light coat 24 hrs before priming... Then I applied Smith's High Build Epoxy primer which is considered a barrier coat.. I had two colors.. gray and white and did four coats alternating gray, white, gray, white so I could see what...

I would let it dry a couple of weeks and then use CPES as a sealer/primer for varnish. That should provide better adhesion than what those other guys had w/o CPES. I am not sure how quickly the bad effects materialize, but you could just CPES part of it first and see if everything stays on before do...

I would get at least the 2 qt kit... even if you have a little left over, you can use it elsewhere... I have used it to firm up punky wood on deck boards (deck off house), cedar swing seats, and bird feeders. I have also used it as a primer before varnishing window frames and repairing the underside...

Joe.. what gear lube do you use in your 1961 75Hp....? the Owners Manual says to use OMC Type B.. I think the Service manual says to use Type C... and what I have in there now, the Dealer said was the right one... it is Johnson/Evinrude Hi Vis...... I am curious as to what product you think is there...

The muff type water jacket adapters will not fit your engine... I have a Johnson SS Horse.. 1961 75hp... I have a Tempo Motor Flush... it was about $25 I think. It is Part number 380010 Model 916 TFC. It is a metal piece with a bump (like a kid's bandit mask)... the bump fits the snout on the unders...

Thanks for the feedback fellas.... I think I will plan to replace those bolts when I am sure I am done for the season, or maybe first thing next spring. I think I will wire brush and put a little penetrating oil on the threads, and later try to remove a nut. Then remove the longest bolt and order ne...

Replacing transom bolts
I am interested in getting advice/comments regarding the brass carriage bolts on the transom of my Seacoaster.. 1960. I was thinking the other day, that maybe I should replace them. I never did that when I redid the boat in 2004-5. .. They are 50 years old... And I have no idea whether they will fai...
