1965 Thompson Offshore
Hello I was wondering if there is someway to advertise a Thompson (65 offshore, V50898) for sale on this site. Not sure what your rules are. I plan on taking it to Clayton this year for the auction, but thought I might try to find someone else that is actually interested in Thompsons first. I can gi...

Re: 1959 Off Shore
Andy I am so glad you posted this. I am quite far from finishing my 65 20' Offshore (Peshtigo), but have been thinking about the motor. I want to put a modern 90 hp (4 stroke) Honda on it. Was thinking of way to make it look retro. Your idea is great, now it's an issue of finding emblems etc. Big qu...

Re: Windshield 1959 Sea Lancer
All Checked out my aluminum framed windows on my 65 Offshore, Peshtigo WI built boat. As mentioned above, I have one windshield that is cracked. Mine has a rubber gasket on the 'outside' of the windshield that holds the glass into the aluminum frame. It was easy to remove and the glass lifted right ...

Re: Redecking my Off Shore
thanks for the photos. I too have to redeck my offshore (1965) someday. Are there any fastners that hold the deck down, or just the boat life caulk? if so, what did you use, nails, screws, .. and how do you cover up the heads? Also, when you applied the stain, did you seal first, or just apply the f...

Re: Windshield 1959 Sea Lancer
I am in the same boat, pun intended I guess. I have a 65 offshore with a crack in the glass in the aluminum frame. I too am wondering how to get it out. I will take to some local glass places and see what they say.

Andreas Cool building from outside. Sorry I am not closer to help (new York). I have been thinking about a shop like this for a ling time. Was wondering what the layout is like you plan inside. Like to hear others ideas. All open, walled off, dedicated shop space, heated, radiant floor heat ?? What ...

Forum search not worKing
I seem to be getting an error when using the forum search, some general error about past searches not being deleted. Is there an issue, or is it me?

Strake Thickness
All Thought I had this figured out, probably not. I measured the strake thickness on my 65 Thompson Offshore where parts of the transome used to be, using calipers. I measure 7/16" thickness, on both sides of the boat. To me this is close to 1/2" as 1/2" plywood is typically a bit thi...

Rib Grain Orientation
All Have seen several posts on steam bending ribs, which I need to do. Confused about the proper grain direction of the rib. So, ... lets say you buy a board that is quarter sawn white oak, 6" inches wide, 1-1/8" thick (5/4). You lay it on a bench top with the 6 inch part laying flat acros...

Transom to strake screw size and length
Hi All As you may have learned from previous posts I am replacing my transom on my 65 Offshore. Since the transom was pretty much dismanteled before I bought the boat, can someone tell me what size screws to use that connect the transom to the strakes? I have found #10's, 1-1/2" connecting the ...
