screws??

Is there a reason not to use stainless screws in areas where they are going to be covered. I understand using brass / silicon bronze in areas where they will be visible. Just curious as stainless are much more accesible along the gulf coast.

Today I bought the Zspar mahogany filler stain but store did not have the specified Z*Spar T-10 brushing thinner. What types of thinners can I substitute?

I have a source that can provide a single piece of mahoghany for the exterior part of the transom. Other than cost, is there any concern I should have with using a one piece transom over the typical 3 piece outer transom?

mahoghany refinishing order

What is the correct order to refinish mahaghany? I am thinking CPES, then filler stain. Do I seal again after stain and is so with what?
thanks

I would scarf. It is not that hard to do and then your repair would be done right.

Not sure where you live versus where the boat is but I would bet that you could find a similar boat much closer to home. Unless the boat has sentimental value it does not appear that the economics work out.
Just an outsider looking in.

OK, so I just looked at your other post in which you listed everything. Sorry for not looking. Is there a splash well on the transom. One of my thompsons had the hull number stamped under it and I did not find it until it was removed.

Is there a metal plate on the dash with a serial # or look on the inside of the transom for some letters and numbers stamped into the wood. Other items that might help would be length and width and a pic of the boat.

the mecury is going to give you better power than the honda. If it were me I would still go for the 60 as you could run lower RPMS and save even more gas.

How does the boat ride when on plane? Does the bow ride out of the water? I agree with John, it sounds like the bow is still in the water. Especially if the motor is cavatating as you describe. You might need to shift weight towards the back.

I finally figured out how to upload pics. Now I just need to resize them. Anyway, the Lowes brand stripper is on the left and the Mobile Paint stripper is on the left. I ran out of the mobile paint stripper and lowes was closer so I tried theirs. Never again. Both were applied the same way. brush it...

I have found that the stripper you can buy at the discount houses are OK but will require several applications to achieve the desired results. Mobile Paint makes a commercial stripper (I think they call it XL, I will find out tomorrow as I need another gallon) that makes the discount stripper look l...
