Hmmm, I wonder what that will mean for the recently reincarnated Thompson brand. Yar Craft was building them to order and from what I've heard, with the state of the current new boat market, only 2 of the new 240 Fisherman Thompsons were built (got that from the owner of one of those 2 new builds). ...

you don't have rods in the water in all of those rod holders, but it's nice to be able to move rods around when there is a fish being fought, they can get into the other lines in the water pretty easily and make a mess of things. The rocket launcher (rod holders on top of the hardtop) are mostly use...

Andreas, that was a tongue in cheek statement based on the "Darn wood boat haters" thread over in the miscellaneous section where there seems to be a touch of wood boat snobbery going on. All in fun :) . I love the looks of the old wood Thompsons, they're just not appropriate for the kind ...

It was in an Outdoors newspaper here in NYS called New York Outdoor News. I know some folks that get it and will see if I can get a copy of it. I do see that it is now mentioned in the "about us" tab on Yarcraft's website. It says in the last paragraph they will be producing the Thompson 2...

Andreas, I saw on another forum that one of the guys I know that has a 240 Fisherman Hardtop saw an article and small photo of the new Yarcraft Thompson 240 HT that they are apparently putting into production. Have you heard any updated news on this? I find it difficult to believe in the current eco...

Nope, no license needed for a VHF Marine Radio. The Coast Guard required one at one time, but that went away a number of years ago. Apparently no one was complying with the requirement anyways, so they decided there was no point in having the reg. I'm usually out on Lake Ontario and am frequently mi...

Oh, by the way, the Thompson "name" and several of the molds and tooling were purcahsed by Yar-Craft Boats in December 2005. Yar-Craft intends to make the model 240 and probably will call it "Model 240 Thompson by Yar-Craft". It has come full circle - since Yar-Craft was a spin-...

Looking for replacement metallic decals

I have a fiberglass 1986 Thompson 252 Hardtop and the Thompson decals that are on the post and starboard aft corners are pretty beat up. I'd like to replace em if possible. They are a metallic/foil sticker with black text/outline. This is a pic of one in decent shape from a different boat of that vi...
