Thanks Andreas.
I plan on doing all the work in my driveway, so ventilation shouldn't be too big of a concern.
Any personal preference on chemical strippers?

Varnish Removal, Refinishing?
I have read of several ways to refinish the old varnish... Heat stripping, chemical, sanding, etc. Anyone found a good way of doing this? Or techniques to share? My planned steps thus far look like this: 1. Heavy scrub brush and Murphy's soap to clean the inside. 2. Attempt a small section of a heat...

A few restoration questions? Hull & Interior rework
I have a bit of wood chipping on the back of my boat. The transom is in great shape. I took a screw driver and looked for rot inside the boat. Everything seemed good. Last year was the first time in over a decade the boat hit the water. It took on a "little" water, but nothing to scary I th...

My '57 FINALLY Gets Wet
Well, I've been sitting on my boat for 3 years now. I finally decided, enough's enough, and sent the motor in for a complete check-up. After 8 weeks of waiting, I got her back! I was able to finally get the old girl in the water this Sunday. Good news: little water seepage for a boat that's been in ...

CPES, Cold Weather or Warm?
I notice two formulas, cold and warm. Which one should I go with? Here's my project. The back corners, by the transom have a bit of damage and flake. Everything else appears quite solid, but the boats been out of water for 10+ years. I would like to fix the obvious areas now, and give my boat the wa...

Gas leakage on stopping
Well, now that I have my impeller taken care of, I have a new problem. When I started the engine, I got it to run fine for a little bit, killed it and found gas pouring out of (item 107 / 108 for those with Javelin parts manuals) the seams of the air silencer. Something tells me this is wrong. I hav...

Thanks! I ended up tearing it appart anyways just to be on the safe side. Installed by twisting counter-clockwise, which means a clockwise sping on the top down view. NP. Went a lot easier this time.... now I have a new problem.... one heck of a gas leak. A question for another post.... I think I ne...

Impeller Installation
Just wondering if you can install and impeller backwards? After re-assembling last night I think I bent the rubber legs the wrong way. I presume that they are flexible enough to self-right themselves when the engine spins, but I just want to make sure. Good news... after 7 years out of the water the...
