Re: Correct HP Outboard

I have a 1959 Thompson Sea Lancer, which is 17 ft. It is rated for up to 90 hp. When I first got it , it had a 1963 Merc 850 in-line 6 cyl. The boat handled it very well with a top speed of about 34 or 35 mph. The motor weighed about 250 lbs with power trim. I have since had to replace the transom b...

Re: Thompson Boat Rally 2019

Great job as usual Andreas. There are several postings of pictures on Fiberglassics.com. Thank you for all you do to keep this alive. Good job on the weather this year. Next time see if you can do something about the high water so it would be easier to have our boats in the water :D :D .

Re: Thompson Boat Rally 2017

Andreas, I hope there are a lot of last minute action. I have been to 4 out of the last 5 Rallys and have had a good time at all. The knowledge and friendship is always flowing freely. It doesn't matter the condition of what you bring, everyone there will appreciate what you have. If you are plannin...

Re: 1963 17' Thompson Garage Find

Can't help you with the bubbles, but it looks like you got a good one. I didn't notice any dark spots where water was left standing, except a little towards the bow. Make sure you check along the transom where it meets the hull. With the extra board they put on the outside on the New York boats, it ...

2017 Rally?

Hi Andreas, Just wondering if the Rally is being planned for this summer? My boss is asking about when I'm taking my vacation, so I was wondering about dates. I'm looking forward to it and I hope we have weather like we had last time. I hope we might be able to tour your workplace again. That was in...

Re: another Off-Shore Cabin Cruiser appears

As usual, another great find for you Andreas! That one looks like a keeper, except for that last picture. Any plans coming together for a Rally this summer?

Re: 1957 Cruisers 16' hull# 7 G5423

Welcome to the world of old wood boats!! When you get done with all of the work, it will be worth while. I get compliments on my Sea Lancer every time I put her in the Mississippi a few miles north of you in the La Crosse area. I bought my boat from my brother-in-law's parents, and his mother was fr...

New Trailers

Does anyone know of a brand of new trailers that will work on our wood boats? I want one rated for around 2000# and has rollers for the keel and bunks in the back for the transom. The trailer I have is over 50 years old and was rated for 1100# back then. That is about what my Sea Lancer and 115 hp M...

Re: my 64 sea coaster

The 4 would make it a 1964, to agree with Andreas' information. The 1501 would make it the 1501st boat made in 1964.

The guy I bought my Thompson from had one before he bought the Thompson. Nice looking boats with similar lines like a Thompson.

Re: Glue

Thanks Andreas. I didn't think about using that. What do you use around the outside edge to seal it to the hull? Would 5200 be good for that too? Obviously, I don't plan on having to do this again, so getting it apart shouldn't be an issue!! Would Boatlife be a better product for this?
