Jocas,

I have "bunk" seats from a 1962 Thompson Sea coaster (Peshtigo) that I had recovered. I can measure these for you. However, you will want to be sure that is what you had in this boat.

I just went on the ACBS site and it is Vol. IV. It is available there for thirty dollars.

I think it vol4, but there is only one that deals with outboards and it does have chapters on both Thompson strip built and lapstrake boats with pictures. Some of the information is not correct. For example, the motor rating of a boat pictured, etc. It will be next weekend before I can get to my whe...

Now you are better getting advice from Andreas and others than me on this question. Generally, my experience is that the boat is in contact from the stern forward until the bunk ends.

W. Guy Thompson lapstrake boats corner much like a fiberglass v-hull. For their size and weight I think you find the ride is better with the lapstrake. The ribs give under the pressure of an incoming wake which absorbs some of the shock. The more rigid fiberglass hulls have less give. Andreas is rig...

Most are on that side, but we own a '53 Thompson Super Deluxe with rear cockpit steering on the port side. There is also a 20' 1963 Off Shore model for sale that has port side steering. I have read several theories of why the steering ended up as it has (on the starboard side), ranging from balancin...

Andreas, To paraphrase (and I wish I could do this in spider-web); some hog. Seriously, in a case like this do you just lay-in a completely new white oak keel? If you were to do that, would you beef-up/strengthen it from how they came out of the factory? I hope you have been able to get on the lakes...

Rob, I am no mechanic, but on my 1969 Mercury 125 hp, the hour meter is tied into the ignition switch. If the switch is on, regardless of whether the motor is running, the hour meter runs: The switch obviously then runs off the battery, not the directly off the motor. This works just fine unless you...

Mike, We have an original tilt/trim on our 1969 Mercury 1250 (125hp) which is the second motor for our 1963 18' Super Lancer. The transom seems to handle the motor and tilt/trim just fine. In fact, this boat performs considerably better at speeds above 25 mph under the proper trim of the motor. If y...

Trey,

We were not at that event, but our 63 Super Lancer has cushions that wrap on top of the seat backs. If you email me at thomp1@mchsi.com I will forward some pics of the seats.

Tom, Go to the Dockside Boats section of this website and you will see a couple of examples that are very close to your boat. Our 1953 16' Super Deluxe is very similar (it is in the group at Dockside Boats section. click on it, then scroll down to second boat). However, the top crowned decks on ours...

Andreas, Thanks. I do not trailer it nearly as much as you, so I need all the help I can get for when I do retrieve it to the trailer. I think I will look at an additional set of bunks and a pair of upright guides at the rear of the trailer. That would also make knowing wherethe trailer is when the ...
