Re: Peshtigo on Christmas Eve
My wife and I had the opportunity to stop by Peshtigo back in October and stopped by to say hello to Andreas and to see the old Thompson Boat factory, here's couple of pics to illustrate Andreas's point. http://i1180.photobucket.com/albums/x404/sammyparrot/DSC_1626_zps71858090.jpg http://i1180.photo...

Surviving the Polar Vortex, ( Winter in the Frozen North)
Survived this past winter by beginning a restoration on a Thompson 16 foot Hiawatha canoe, which I believe was built in 1942. We were physically subjected this winter here in the Midwest to 3 polar vortex weather systems, i.e., extreme cold! Working on this canoe helped me get through those events. ...

Re: 1959 Off Shore
This is one of the many things I enjoy about this avocation with vintage boat/motors, the vision so many have with going outside the box and then making it happen, well done!!!

Re: this one looks worthwhile....
By the pics it appears to be a solid boat. I like the Thompson cedar boats, the one pictured has the long deck, good looking. If I was entertaining the purchase of this boat I would inquire about any known fiberglassing or soft spots, i.e., wood rot. I have a 1954 TVT model, a 12 footer. Here's a pi...

Re: Thompson Canoe
Greetings, I have what I believe is a 1942 Thompson Hiawatha canoe. Hoping to restore it this winter. Here is a page you might find of interest in trying to pin down what year it was made. http://www.wcha.org/dating-the-thompson-hiawatha/

Thompson boat, Madison, Wisconsin
Nice show of Thompson respect in the upcoming Madison, Wisconsin Vintage Boat show poster. The operator of the boat may look familiar, (Andreas), who if memory serves me correct took first in this very same show last year for "Best Outboard". Nicely done with Madison, (state capitol) in th...

Greetings, I can't speak for the 1962 models but my original 1963 Thompson model had Philips head screws.

As I mentioned it appears we are neighbors, you're welcome to bring your boat by and I'll be glad to assist you. I've restored/refinished a number of Thompsons.

Re: Rust in metal gas can
These gas cans are a dime a dozen, can't save them all. I recommend scrapping it and looking for a better replacement.

Re: Sealing screws on the "splash boards"?
A quick fix would be to pull the old screw out, coat the screw threads with a sealant like Boatlife, it comes in small tubes, then fill the open screw hole with the sealant using a toothpick to shove the sealant in, put in the coated screw and you should be good. In regard to filling old screw holes...

Re: Muscatine Iowa boat (and more) show
I've gone a couple of times with a boat. In the past if you pre-registered w/them and brought a boat they thanked you in a couple of ways, complimentary breakfast, paddleboat ride on the river, etc. There was a Friday night pig roast, with side dishes for a very reasonable price, the town really open...

Re: Windshield 1959 Sea Lancer
This is to Peterz, I have a mid-1960's Thompson Offshore windshield, all four pieces of glass, (and wood frames), two front pieces still in their aluminum frames, no chips or cracks. Let me know if you are interested, I live in the Chicago area and given their size and fragil nature, pick-up would b...
