Re: Posting photos
Well that's a bummer. I have not been keeping up with posting my project. It just takes too much time.

Posting photos
i had been using photobucket to post photos here, which I have found to be very tedious.
now when i go to my post, most of the images are no longer available, just url info that goes nowhere.
any suggestions?

Re: Bottom Rebuild (prev. 'At a cross road')
I need to update my post with pictures. But what i did is cut out backbone and stringers, all of which was hogged and in poor shape. And replaced with new straight timber. This corrected 98% of the hogg. I m now workinf on fairing the rest of the waves out of the bottom.

yes, "live oaking" was a profession back in the day. cutting live oak for ships knees etc. = much used in traditional ship building.
green wood is typically better for stem bending..
good luck

Re: My 64 sea coaster
I am finally getting to the restoration part! On dismantling thing the transom there were a couple of surprises. the old adhesive was basically non existent. the parts came out with no problem, other than the finish nails, once the screws were removed. Re: 1963 Sea Coaster Deluxe project
Hi. You have mentioned that you plan to cpes the hull. It looks to me as though your boat is planked with mdo,as is my 1964 seacoaster. The cpes won't penetrate the mdo, so applying it would just be a waste?

Re: Hooked bottom
I think that it is all relative to the given situation. if one simply has warping to the bottom panels and ribs, and you can soak and press them back to shape, fine. though i think that over time, ie several soakings, this will cause damage, and or the wood will just become overly flexible. on the o...

Re: Sea coaster transom
Andre, what are you meaning by " edge of the transom" and "roofing materiel"? does this mean that the transom is bedded to the planks with roofing tar? also, the upper part has the vertical / horizontal layout, but at the bottom this seams to change. there is 2 pieces horizontal ...

Hey Bill,
How about letting us see some of those photos?
I have to rebuild the transom on my sea coaster. I am going to use epoxy Allen the way.
